"By the Power of these keys the Head of the Church will be made the Lord of Hell."
In late 2012 a cryptic invitation leads a crime novelist to Venice's Island of the Dead.
Seventy four years earlier a similar cryptic invitation brings Grail historian Otto Rahn to an apartment in Berlin. What awaits him will change his life. What ensues is a hunt for Le Serpent Rouge, a notorious book of black magic written by a Pope, a book Himmler wants to add to Hitler's library. But there are others looking for the grimoire. A shadowy circle of men are watching Rahn's every move, and they will stop at nothing to possess the book and the legendary key that unlocks its terrifying power...a power that has the potential to effect the future. The Sixth Key has been described as a three dimensional game of chess with real characters, a time machine that will blow your mind and change the way you see the world and the impulses behind war forever.

Adriana Koulias is an author to watch. Her historical fiction based on actual people and events combine history with detection in a breathtaking audacity which makes it hard for the reader to put the book down until the end. This book set mainly in 1938 is interspersed with episodes from several past centuries which help clarify and move the story along. Otto Rahn, a German archaeologist and author has attracted the attention of Hitler and Himmler who seek knowledge of the occult in their drive to dominate the world. Rahn accepts what appears to be a research job, finds he has inadvertently joined the Storm Troopers, and is assigned to find the Grimoire written by Pope Honorius !!! thought to have been secreted somewhere in southern France by the Cathers before the Inquisition destroyed them. The reluctant Rahn is accompanied on his search by several companions aas well as the mysterious woman named Eva. Throughout the search they are followed not only by the Nazis, but also by agents of just about every secret organization extant in Europe at that time. This book is a must for readers who appreciate a well-written quest story with a hero thought by many to be the prototype for Indiana Jones..Product details

The Sixth Key Rosicrucian Quartet Book 3 (Audible Audio Edition) Adriana Koulias James Gillies Zuriel Press Pty Ltd Books Reviews
There is a great difficulty that presents itself when one wishes to weave a gripping tale around a real life personality and the events of their life during a particular time frame. Otto Rahn lived an unusual life in a very unusual time and many of the details of his affairs during WWII are hard to find. The tale told here is a good mix of the realities of his life which are fleshed out in novel form with an intriguing dialog that is filled with many twists and turns, reaching very far into the past and also pointing into the distant future. The realities of the movement, aims and desires of the western occult brotherhoods are chillingly portrayed in this tale and if the reader wishes to dig deeper into these matters, it can be discovered just how much of our current world affairs have been manipulated into existence by those whose only interest is power over humanity
The author does a great job of in
tertwining three plots. She has taken a large cast of characters, provided enough links and explanations for us to remember them and their personalities/identities, and followed them over time. I would recommend to those looking for a multi- dimensional mystery. I would have liked some translation of the Latin, French, and Italian quotes which kept me wondering what I was missing. That is why I gave it. 4 stars rather than five. An engaging and intriguing book.
This was a very well written book but one which in the end I had a little difficulty figuring out. It moved from the present to the past and the level of suspense was really there and built up through the book. The characters were really good. In the end I was left some what confused but that was ok as I really enjoyed the suspense and the character development.
This is really 4 stories interwoven into the one large story and can be confusing at times, if the reader is not paying attention, when it goes from one to another. If you enjoyed the DiVinci Code with all its symbolism, mystery and puzzles, you will enjoy The Sixth Key. There is a lot of true information woven throughout and the author really "did his homework" while researching to write the stories. You will find an interesting twist at the end and it made me go do some research of my own on one of the main characters, who happened to be a real person.
The best one so far. For the other two I was not excited about but I took a chance and it paid off. In this story, or stories, we see a certain amount of jumping from time to time but I was always able to keep the story line through the time shifts. You have to pay attention when reading this authors books. The writing is descriptive enough at the right times, you get a real feel for the surroundings yet in the violent sections it is not oppressive, just enough to let you know how bad it was. This book has me hooked on the 4th one, that I am reading now.
To begin my comments, I give only 3 stars to this book because, even though this book can be described as a stand alone story by the author, it would help to have read the first 2 books in this 4 book series, if only to better introduce the geographic setting and historical context that forms the background to this tale. I didn't have that advantage. I did not know anything about the Cathar belief and it's conflict with the Catholic Church and Faith and the subsequent war that took place in the southwest region of France. At times during the reading of this book I found myself a little lost as to the time and place of the historical background of the book. And also of the occult and mystical organizations mentioned in the story. My lack of familiarity detracted from my enjoyment of of the mystery and the suspension of disbelief necessary to immerse myself into the book.
Thanks to Wikipedia I now know the historical and social context of the setting of the story. And I can't help but think I would have enjoyed the book more.
Aside from that, I think the author wrote a good mystery and good chase story. I applaud her skill and choice in the telling of her tale to just place the reader into the action without too much extrapolation. It moved the story at a good pace.
Unfortunately for me , as a reader, I needed that background to enjoy the story more.
The author is very talented. I read so many adventure and mystery style stories that I've become accustomed to typos and incorrect word use. That is not the case with this author. This is an extremely well written book from a literary perspective. The only reason I didn't give it 4 stars is that the subject matter is not something I gravitate toward. Therefore, I was a bit bored with the history presented in the story. I will say though that if this author writes about a subject in which I have interest, I will certainly buy the book. It was refreshing to read something so well written.
